After a few years in Hotel Management, immediately after graduating, Marion joined the jewellery industry as a researcher in the marketing department of H Samuel Plc in 1985. Within a year the family controlled business had been sold to Ratners and Marion was on a steep learning curve at the heart of one of the most dramatic rise and fall retail legends of the 1990’s. By the time she took a career break in 1995, Marion was Marketing Manager for H. Samuel, by then part of the Signet Group, and responsible for delivering national TV advertising, several million Christmas catalogues and literally miles of Point of Sale material to the 440 UK stores. In 2000 Marion joined the Assay Office to drive its’ diversification forward and has been closely involved with the strategic growth and development of the Laboratory and all divisions of Assay Office Birmingham, including the Training & Heritage division.
